It was all about the Man of Steel in Supergirl.

Filming on the new season doesn’t begin until next week, but the cast was already anticipating Superman’s arrival in the superhero drama.

Definitely incredibly surreal,” new cast member Tyler Hoechlin said of landing the iconic role. “I know the character represents so much to so many people.”

“I was with a friend with his mom and his boyfriend. He came up to me and said, ‘I had to shake Superman’s hand,'” he continued. “This not a generational thing. This is something that’s spread across so much time. There’s a responsibility to this character.”

“It’s about the family you came from. Now that Laura Benanti is full time playing Melania Trump, we have Clark to represent the family,” executive producer Sarah Schecter said. “I think it’s only natural now for Kara to reconnect with him.”

Schecter said that Superman, who makes his debut in the season two premiere, and Supergirl will have their differences when it comes to how to best utilize her power. “Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth. He was raised with them and has values,” Schecter hinted. “We’ll get into that.”

Earlier in the month, Hoechlin told ET that he’s had ” couple of fittings” for the Superman suit and on Saturday’s Comic-Con panel, said he still has “not tried on the suit yet. That’ll be a moment for sure.”

Chyler Leigh chimed in: “But he looks great in the Halloween costume!” “I tried it on and it didn’t fit,” added Jeremy Jordan, to which Mehcad Brooks deadpanned, “And I tried it on and it split in half.”

In one of the funnier moments of the Supergirl panel, the panelists chided Hoechlin to do the famous Superman curl. Of course, Hoechlin obliged.

Hoechlin isn’t the only key addition to the new season, with Containment star Chris Wood playing a mysterious DC character as a new series regular. Schecter didn’t offer a ton of details, only to say that he “was in the pod.” Hmm…

Original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter will play the president. As for why Carter makes her presence known, Schecter teased “because big things are happening. We should expect that a female president is going to lead well. We’re with her, hashtag.”

As for the burgeoning romance between Jimmy Olsen and Kara, their romance is going to get rocky.

“We ended up in a lip-lock. It’s weird because I read [the premiere] an it starts with our wedding and I thought it was really fast,” Brooks deadpanned, clearly joking. “It’s a workplace relationship, it’s a new relationship, It’s going to have its ups and downs.”

With Supergirl moving from CBS to The CW, Schecter took a moment during the 45-minute session to thank CBS for launching the show to millions of viewers.

“We’re so grateful for CBS for launching the show, for putting Melissa on buildings all over the world,” Schecter said. “We all do so much with The CW. There’s a shorthand. When you say metahumans, they know what you mean.”

Supergirl premieres Oct. 10 on The CW.

Supergirl @ Comic-Con: Pod Reveal (!), ‘Tumultuous’ Kara/James Romance, Wonder Woman as POTUS and More

The show is called Supergirl, but the buzziest entrance at the CBS-to-CW series’ Comic-Con panel Saturday belonged to Tyler Hoechlin, aka Superman.

The super series hasn’t begun production on Season 2, so “I have not tried on the suit yet,” Teen Wolf alum Hoechlin told the crowd, who cheered loudly when he joined castmates Melissa Benoist, David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Mechad Brooks and Jeremy Jordan and executive producer Sarah Schechter on stage for the forward-looking discussion.

“That’ll be a moment, for sure,” Hoechlin added.

* Like any family members, Clark and Kara will clash — at least at first, Schechter said. “Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth,” the EP explained. “There’s some real head-butting and philosophical approaches that are different. We’ll get into all that.”

A few more tidbits from the talk:

* What brings the American president — played by Wonder Woman‘s Lynda Carter — into the mix? “Big things are happening,” Schechter teased. “Big things have to happen to get Superman and Supergirl together.”

* Schechter dropped this big hint about new cast addition Chris Wood (Containment): He’s the one in the pod Kara encountered in the Season 1 finale.

* The cast and EP talked with excitement about the show’s move from CBS to The CW — and future four-way crossovers with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. “There’s just a real shorthand. If you say ‘metahuman,’ they know what you’re talking about,” Schechter said.

* Benoist marveled at her first year in the tights and cape. “I honestly look back, and I don’t know how I did a lot of the things we did,” she said. “I feel like I’ve grown so much, kind of simultaneously along with Kara.”

* At Jordan’s insistence, Hoechlin mussed his hair so it approximated Superman’s signature forelock curl. “Oh my God, he’s Superman!” Brooks yelled in mock surprise.

* Brooks called the budding Kara-James romance “a workplace relationship. It’s a new relationship, it’s gonna have ups and downs and tumultuous things,” he added. “It’s weird, because I read [Episode] 201, and it starts with our wedding,” he joked. “I thought that was really fast.”

* Winn as a DEO staff member? Per Jordan, it could happen. “I think he’s looking for a straight-up job. I think it would make the DEO a little more fun,” he said. “It’s a little serious right now.”

Supergirl Season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on its new home, The CW.

Comic-Con: ‘Supergirl’ To Butt Heads with Superman in Season Two

Besides racing to a second season and making the move from CBS to the CW, “Supergirl” presented the iconic character of Superman at Comic-Con in the form of actor Tyler Hoechlin at their panel on Saturday.

Season two filming hasn’t started yet but executive producer Sarah Schechter started the panel by talking about the move to the CW where “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow” also air. “We’re so grateful to CBS for launching the show, for putting Melissa on buildings all over the world and for all their support,” she said. “We obviously do so much with the CW so there’s a real shorthand there. If you say metahuman they know what you’re talking about.”

While there were musings about the previously announced epic crossover between the four DC series, Schechter gave no indication about what that might look like but did say, “We’re super excited for the crossover of all four shows.” Besides Schechter and Hoechlin, cast members on the panel were Melissa Benoist (Kara), Mehcad Brooks (James), Jeremy Jordan (Winn), Chyler Leigh (Alex) and David Harewood (Hank).

Schechter also explained why it was time to bring Superman (who we only saw in silhouette or quick flashes previously) into the series in year two. “To be honest, in season one that show was about Cara and it’s about Supergirl,” said Schechter. “This show is about family and it’s about the family that you make as an adult and this family that’s come together and then it’s also about the family you came from [and] we have Clark to represent the family. I think it’s only natural now that Cara reconnect with him.”

Hoechlin, best known for his time on MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” said that his experience so far has been surreal. “I know the character represents so much to so many people,” he said. “There’s a responsibility to that character so that’s something that I take on with great pride and I’m just excited what we can do with that character and this great world [they] created in the first season. I’m really excited.” Hoechlin also said that he has yet to try on the infamous Superman suit.

Knowing that Superman may have a different way of approaching fighting evil than his cousin did in season one, watch for some conflict in the new season. “I think that Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth,” Schechter said. “He was raised with them, he has certain values so there’s some real head butting and philosophical approaches that are different and we’ll get into all that.”

Of some of the story threads left from the season one finale, it appeared that Kara and James were finally going to a place of romance. Brooks teased, “It’s a workplace relationship, it’s a new relationship so it’s going to have ups and downs and tumultuous things but she’s still finding out who she is as a woman and I’m finding out who I am and that might get in the way a little bit.”

There are also new characters coming, including previously announced Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) who Schechter said will be as “bad ass” as the other women on the show. Actor Ian Gomez, as newsman Snapper Carr, would not be a fan of Kara’s or Supergirl’s. Along with Lynda Carter appearing as the President of the United States, Schechter did reveal that Chris Wood plays the mystery character that Kara found in the pod in the season finale.

“Supergirl” premieres season two on October 10 on at 8pm on The CW.

VIDEO: Supergirl Stars Talk Pod Reveal, Kara’s New ‘Hurdle,’ Perfecting Superman’s Curl, Being More ‘Crazy’ on The CW

Supergirl won’t look much different when she touches down on The CW on Tuesday, Oct. 10 — save for the possibility that life for Kara & Co. could get even more comic-booky.

“We’re going to have a bit more runway,” Chyler Leigh, who plays Alex, told Michael Ausiello at TVLine’s Comic-Con studio presented by ZTE. “Since were catering to that younger crowd, we have a bit more room to bring some crazy, crazy in.” As Mehcad Brooks added, the handful of Season 2 scripts they’ve seen thus far feel “younger, more relevant.”

With Superman himself in the room (that is, Teen Wolf alum Tyler Hoechlin), the cast also shared their surprise at getting to have the actual Man of Steel on the show — and how it actually speaks to the amount of strength established in Kara thus far.

On the scoop front, David Harewood offered a tantalizing tease about what (who?) is inside the Kryptonian pod that Kara Found at the close of Season 1.

Other questions answered in the video Q&A above: How will Cougar Town vet Ian Gomez’s Snapper Carr differ from Cat Grant as a superior? Just how much will we see of Calista Flockhart now that the show has moved production to Vancouver? And has Hoechlin suited up yet, or at least perfected the iconic hair curl?
